Overview

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the largest federal law enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security. With nearly 60,000 employees, CBP is dedicated to securing the nation's borders while facilitating legitimate international travel and trade. The agency employs a layered border strategy across more than 300 international ports of entry and over 8,000 miles of land and coastal borders. CBP's operations include the Office of Field Operations, which inspects foreign visitors and cargo, the United States Border Patrol that secures borders against various threats, and Air and Marine Operations that support border security. The agency also conducts drug interdiction and manages passport control and agriculture inspections. CBP provides training and assistance in areas such as international narcotics control, trade enforcement, and immigration programs, all guided by core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.
